This magnificent type of lace was originally made exclusively in northern France but is now made all over the world. Originally known as Alencon lace, it is formed by high lighting details in the pattern using a cord, which gives these laces a slightly textured look.
The cording itself can be very fine and delicate, highlighting the motifs in the design of the lace. Alternatively, the cording can be heavier and add a three dimensional quality.
